Alchemy 「錬金術」
Alchemy is the conduction of Aer to induce state transitions and activity in the Anima Field.
Engines
An alchemic engine is a device that conducts aer in designed patterns to produce specific effects.
Programmable engines modify their conduits to produce a broad range of effects based on code instructions.
Efficiency
Due to the complexity and difficulty of coercing mana into patterns, alchemic processes are far less energy efficient than their naturally occurring counterparts.
More energy is spent directing mana to produce heat than in processing an equivalent payload of fuel from available sources.
Organs
Many kinds exhibit specialized organs that interact with the anima field, either as sensors or biological alchemic engines. These are usually constructed to conduct specific alchemical processes rather than providing psionic abilities.
- The ears of Elves sense the flow of anima, giving them a form of sight into the intricacies of their environment.
- Dwarves can sense the Anima Gradient, which they commonly use to locate and identify dense minerals.
- A certain manner of Futanari utilizes alchemic organs to produce reproductive materials.
Bioengineering
Runes
A rune (also: seal, crest) is an alchemic engine itself constructed out of anima.
Runic constructs emit and interact with light, often producing the complex imagery responsible for their namesakes.
While most runes are volatile and quick to dissipate, they may be etched into certain mediums for long-term persistence.
Psionics 「超能力工学」
Psionics is the field pertaining to the use of technology to study and replicate the ability for beings to compose a broad range of alchemic effects at-will.
While the field has made substantial advances—granting limited capacity to certain individuals— there are still major gaps in the understanding of biological alchemic processes.
Affinity
Affinities describe the tendency for psionic individuals to be more effective at certain domains of alchemic operations than others.
