Technology
Internet
At the highest level, the world of Kirisame can be described as post-internet. While a digital communications network connects much of the galaxy—to varying degrees of coverage, latency, and throughput—what we know as the "world-wide web" is largely nonexistent. The concept of a "website" is relegated to small, local organizations.
Most services utilize a set of standardized protocols to deliver specifications and applications for interfacing with systems.
The average civilian has access to a range of local and long-distance mobile communication methods, comparable to modern messaging services—though utilizing open protocols across a swath of interoperable systems. Due to the expense of latency, off-world communications are generally limited to short data packets.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Gravity
Space Pump
A space pump pushes the spatial field through a medium, resulting in a vortex of spatial motion. This spatial vortex produces a toroidal gravitational field through the space pump.
Travel
Conventional
Conventional propulsion uses projected mass to accelerate a body in the opposite direction.
Hyperspace
Hyperspace utilizes the singularity radiation of the spatial field to increase the distance traversed with respect to an object’s motion.
Warp
Hyperspace warping involves increasing spatial density to descend toward singularity, reducing relative distances between locations.
Jumping
Hyperspace jumping uses a deeper descent than warping to traverse vast distances at little to no movement. This manner of travel requires substantial calculations and corrections to maintain position during hyperspace descent and ascent.
Preinstalled tethers may be utilized to lead an object along a hyperspace path.
Tunneling
Tunneling deforms the hyperspace field to temporarily connect two points in space. Depending on the conditions of the deformation, the resulting tunnel may be more or less stable—potentially forming a self-sustaining system while conditions persist.
Directional Inertia
Directional inertia is a phenomenon—often produced through alchemy—in which an object accelerates differently depending on its facing. As these objects rotate, kinetic energy is transferred between axes of motion—at some loss to heat and emissions.
Certain classes of space fighter use this technology to improve agility in vacuum.
Weapons
Ballistic
Ballistic weapons accelerate masses, typically through pressure or electromagnetic forces.
Blaster
Blasters use chemically reactive projectiles that ignite upon firing and burn into a super-heated plasma.
Explosive
Explosive weapons use extreme temperature to disrupt a medium, resulting in an intense pressure wave. These weapons often utilize ballistic projectiles or chemicals that are ejected by the pressure wave.
Laser
Lasers heat and ablate materials through focused beams of electromagnetic radiation. Lasers may be momentary, continuous, or pulsed; single-beam, multi-beam, or phased; and of varying frequency and intensity.
Particle Beams
Particle beam weapons emit mass-bearing particles—usually charged—at near the speed of propagation.
Radiative
Radiative weapons emit electromagnetic waves and particles over wide areas, resulting in square falloff with distance.
