Helicopter Over the Coast

The dense canopy of the forest blurred into a frenzy of deep green beneath the low flying helicopter as it sped along the coastline. Abigail Harding peered apprehensively throught he window, her eyes tracing the wall of dark clouds on the horizon.

The northern sea was notorious for its frequent and sudden storms, but the approaching front was particularly bad. The system was forecast to impact that evening, delivering severe winds and drenching the region for several days; and management had ordered the camps to take shelter.

The outpost was weather hardened, but the camps operated out of mobile laboratories—designs from the first expedition, built for the planet's tropical dry forests.

Harding, the field manager for Site C, was now on her way to oversee maintenance at the last of the camps.
